This is an easy valentine craft for kids, with a printable Bee Template.
Age: 5 and up
Time scale: 2 out of 5
Print out the bee template on to construction paper or cardstock paper. This can now be colored with either crayons or felt pens. If the kids have a short attention span or they are in a hurry, speed this project up even more by printing the template on to yellow paper. Only the black areas and the heart will then need to be colored.
After coloring the heart, write your Valentine message on the front of it.
Cut out all the pieces.
Glue on the googly eyes.
Cut a black pipe cleaner to 5.5 inches long. Use scotch tape and attach this to the back of the bee, just down from the neck a bit. Center it so it is evenly spaced.
Bend up from the ends about an inch to make elbows. Does a bee have elbows?
Tape the edge of the hands on to the heart with the thumbs up. Now attach the hands on to the front side of the ends of the pipe cleaners.
Use the leftover piece of pipe cleaner, which should be about 6.5 inches long, for the legs. Bend in the center to form a V. Tape on to the backside, near the bottom of the body of the bee.
Add the feet to the ends.
Cut a piece of pipe cleaner 4.5 inches long. Bend in the center and make a V shape. This is for the antennae. Tape this to the back of the head.
Glue a black pony bead or pom pom to each end.
This Valentine craft for kids can be easily changed to make it unique. One leg on the bee can be bent so he looks like he is dancing. Both legs can be bent so he can REALLY be doing a jig. Antennae can be bent around too. His eyes can even be different sizes.
The Valentine can be decorated with glitter, to make it really fancy.
Yes, it is a template, but there is still room for kids to use their own imagination! Each bee can have his own special personality.
