Christian Easter Crafts

Christian Easter crafts can help to serve as a reminder and provide a gateway for the discussion of what the holidays are really about.

Stained glass windows are made into beautiful pictures that tell a story.
They can be quite labor intensive. With all the glass cutting, leading and
soldering, they are not a kid friendly project.

Kids can make this easy, faux stained glass church window with wax paper and felt pens.

What does this symbolize and what story does it tell?
Is Easter about more than chocolates, chicks and the Easter bunny?

Age: 8 and up

Difficulty: Easy

Time Scale: 2 out of 5

  • Wax paper
  • felt pens various colors
  • black felt pen
  • Thin cardboard (like cereal box board)
  • ruler
  • white glue
  • tape
  • Printer
  • white paper

Print out the stained glass window template on to a plain sheet of white paper.

Cut out, around the outer edge of the pattern.

Put this on a piece of cardboard and trace around the edge. Cut the excess off from the cardboard.

Draw a 1/2 inch border in from this edge. (as shown in the pattern.) Cut out the center of the cardboard, so you have made a frame. Color this with a brown felt pen. * A little hint when coloring with felts: use the side of the felt instead of the tip. It works better and the color fills in nicer.

Put the printed pattern underneath a piece of wax paper with the waxy side up. (One side of the paper should feel more waxy than the other.)

Tape the paper down to your work surface to keep it from moving around.

Use a black felt pen and trace all the lines on to the wax paper. Use a ruler to help with the longer straight lines.

Remove the tape and flip the wax paper over.

Use felt pens to color in each section, between the lines. Make sure you turn the wax paper over. If you color the same side as what the black outline is on, the felts will smudge into each other and make a mess.

When you have finished coloring, flip back over and glue the cardboard frame on to the wax paper. Let dry and then trim off the excess wax paper.

This Christian Easter crafts project can now be hung up in a window to let the sun shine through.
